Re: Chip Tester de 8bit-museum.de - Reloaded
I just released firmware v.14. The manuals are also up to date and can be downloaded from my website. If there are any errors, please give me feedback so that I can fix it quickly.
The update should actually appear yesterday evening, but when logging into Win10 there was always a "black screen", which was caused by the update KB4579311. Unfortunately that took some time

Working on the next firmware update (v.15):
Added: ZIP20 64k x 4, MK4332 (2 x 16k x 1), Fixes: x150, some internal changes according TMS4132 (2 x 16k x 1)
x150 (e.g. Am9150, SRAM, 1k x 4 with reset):
ZIP20 64k x 4:
Also MK4332 added (not yet tested but I have ordered a chip to do so):

Re: Chip Tester de 8bit-museum.de - Reloaded
Great, thanks for the feedback. Then everything is fine.
"Inverse" tests are nonsense^2, so these are not relevant.
When you put a test sample wrong in a tester you must not expect a valid result.
I can remove the TTL tests at any time - without problems. It's really no hassle. If this prevents users from testing a chip the wrong way round and getting a wrong result, I am happy to do so. I don't see any point in this, but I'm happy to accept suggestions. The tests are reliable when chips are used correctly. But if the majority sees it differently, the tests are removed. I have created a v.15beta1 that does not longer contain the TTL tests (and the new features, see my .15 post). When someone whats to test it, let me know.
For inexperienced users I have added a how to use in the manual:
Nevertheless maybe I will implement a kind of "chip-has-been-inserted-the-wrong-way-detection" in a future firmware, so that it is bullet proof also for awkward and inexperienced users. Or I remove the logic tests, when I am asked to do so.
The only test 74HC14 testes as 74HC00 you should repeat:
Normal 74LS/HC00 🗴 🗴 🗴 ✓(*2) 🗴 🗴 🗴 ✓
See my tests:
74HC00 tested as 74HC00:
74HC00 tested as 74HC14:
74HC14 tested as 74HC00:
74HC14 tested as 74HC14:
And I tried with several chips (old and new stock):
So you maybe should check this single chip or there is a problem with your Tester itself.
Please load the troubleshooting firmware and check if each pin can be switched correctly.

Chip Tester de 8bit-museum.de - Reloaded
Hi Slabbi good notice your work on v15.
A note , today i updated the tester from v13 to v14 but i only have detect errors.
My programmer is an Diamex USB-ISP , i tried the "flash_firmaware_(please_edit).bat" , all was correct , COM port was right.
Here is a capture.
I have the images on my mobile if you want to see in detail. Just tell me
I haved many help from Valfac friend , but the result was the same.
In one impulse it occurred to me to remove the microSD module , then i try to program again and it worked perfectly.
Valfac say me that he also got errors with the microSD module inserted. How had we talked about the issue , he also remove it and programmed perfectly without errors.
Take this to update the manual if you seen necesary. Will help other people with firmware update problems.

Re: Chip Tester de 8bit-museum.de - Reloaded
Have you inserted the SD card adapter while flashing?
In order to flash the firmware you have to remove the sd card adapter since it shared the ISP port.
Does it work?
-- Edit:
Ups sorry, I was so fast. You have already solved the problem. I will add this in the manual.
Thanks a lot for mention this!

Hi,
since several users have assembled their Chip Tester and maybe you have questions, I want you to invite you to a Google Meet meeting on
Sunday, 15.11., 11:00am (CET)
---removed---
The meeting will be held in English. But that shouldn't prevent anyone from participating. English is not my mother tongue either

Got my first MK4332 yesterday and it works fine:
I wish I could get a TMS4132 in order to check this, too.
